The end of each year always brings a wonderfully chaotic few weeks known as holiday photo sessions. It’s one of my favorite times of the year: I get to meet beautiful new families, make new friends and catch up with older ones, and photograph some serious cuteness.
The name derives from the celtic tribal people the Dumnonii who inhabited the area which is now known as Cornwall (Kernow), Devon (Dyfneint- meaning ‘deep valley dwellers’) and Somerset (the ‘Summer Land’ of the Mabinogion). [source]
Without much forethought but with much luck, I have married a Cornishman.
I don’t really mind waking up early. We don’t have kiddos yet, so I may change my mind on that one day. But sometimes it’s just wonderful to wake up while everything is quiet and peaceful and know that you’ve got an extra hour or two in your day to get things done. August in SoCal is no joke – especially in the valley. I know we’re quite lucky in that it’s usually a dry heat, although it’s been a bit monsoonal this Sunday. You know if there’s any sort of humidity by the absolute avalanche of “OMG, my hair!!” and “ugh, so gross!” comments – and yes, we know it’s laughable. We’re the same with wind, and rain, and I’m pretty sure LA would implode if it ever properly snowed. But geez, tangent.
